HR Essentials Series: Part 7: HR Best Practices: Leveraging Recruitment vs Talent Acquisition
No two companies or industries are the same. At Aldeen Simmonds-Thorpe Consulting, we craft and implement HR best practices to continue to provide exceptional employee experiences (internal customer experiences) that create engagement, retention and superior customer experiences.
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition is often looked at as the same thing. The key difference in the two is that Recruitment focuses on filling an opening or vacancy, while Talent Acquisition employs a strategic approach to finding talent that aligns and supports the company’s human resource strategy. With talent acquisition, there is a deliberate effort to find the best talent for the opening that fits not only the short-term plan for the role but also supports the long-term human resource strategy.
Many entrepreneurs hire recruiters to fill seats, but filling seats can be up to three times (3 X) more expensive than spending the time to acquire the right talent.
The other challenge is to know when to employ a recruitment effort versus a talent acquisition strategy. This is where a HR strategist and business partner can help you distinguish between the two and use both to your advantage.
